Imagine discovery dinosaur bones....that's just what Mary Anning from Lyme Regis did, aged 11! Based on the true life story of the Victorian, English fossil hunter, Fossil Rock explains how the Jurassic Coast got it's name.
Struck by lightning as a baby, Mary Anning's life story was a musical waiting to be written. Although there was no formal education available for girls at that time, Mary educated herself, inspired by her father's passion for fossils. Before Darwin had published his theory of evolution, Mary was making discoveries by herself, that challenged the conventional church teaching of the period and pushed forward scientific thinking. This show literally brings the dinosaurs to life, with a singing pyterodactyl flying squad and fossils that really rock and roll!
"What a fabulous show! The enthusiasm, confidence, variety of tunes, brilliant lyrics, subtle script and children's accents!" (P. Westbrook, Brighton) |
